Thundertow

from Cave by Stranger Cells

/

lyrics

nothing is meant to last,
so who am i to invest myself?
try to maintain and what's left is marred.
there forms a rime around a dying star.
who am i to excite
over anything infected enough to exist?
a win is a loss
and a loss is the undertow.
the brightest flame sinks low.
a life is birthed and grown
and it's time to go.

a cloudless day before the void;
mother bird cheers from a crowded bough,
but a ship on the shore
and a knife to a native's throat.
a gust of indifference,
a heartfelt prayer dissolved in air.
pesticide on the shrubbery.
something will always tear the seams.
the oil leaks,
left to sink and never cleaned.
