Setting Up Mike

from Cave by Stranger Cells

/

lyrics

ive contracted a disease
from the trampled trash in the city streets
ignored by passersby,
like a stranger's ghost,
i'm a plastic bag stuck to a curb,
above a sewer grate.

i'll leave my voice in NYC, my dumpster
and live in silence's false comfort
i'll pay no mind to judgmental eyes
to never speak is to move ahead
the already dead.

in the mess i found a pencil
to write things down and crumple the paper
dissatisfied with the dust that's gathered,
my soul is drenched in doubt.
